Who we are

The American Journalism Institute, the flagship program of the Daily Caller News Foundation, is a distinctive training experience designed to launch the next generation of great American reporters. Regardless of their previous background, this unique, immersive fellowship program takes promising journalists and makes their dreams of news media careers a reality.

AJI Fellows on Capitol Hill

We don’t just teach our Fellows the craft of bias-free, fact-based journalism — they actually practice it. Fellows begin writing news stories almost immediately. All while being paid a full-time salary and benefits.

Our training is comprehensive. On top of structured classes, AJI Fellows hone their skills in workshops like “How to Master Media Appearances.” They take field trips to major newsrooms, congressional hearings and exclusive events. They also learn from the best in monthly “Off the Record” lectures featuring prominent journalists and newsmakers.

In addition to becoming journalists of the highest caliber, our graduates are also well-versed in the principles of liberty, free markets, strong defense, and the rule of law. They also learn to adhere to strict ethical standards.

Here’s the best part: after their two-year training is completed, we help our AJI graduates obtain jobs either in the conservative news ecosystem, which is starved for talent, or at major media organizations appreciate the quality of our talented graduates.

This is the only program of its kind in America. We set a high bar for young reporters, and the results speak for themselves. Our alumni are White House correspondents, radio talk show hosts, investigative reporters and respected journalists. Here’s a list of where you can find our graduates.

Read about our leadership team here. Our office is located less than two blocks from the White House in downtown Washington, D.C. Fellows are an integral part of our news organization, and enjoy the support and camaraderie of our accomplished team (and the occasional Karaoke outing:-).
